Those of you who are familiar with my photos probably know this dead tree in the water since I've had quite a few photos of this scene in my gallery over the years, but I was never really happy with any of them.
I remember this place as a nice green meadow about 20 years ago, but there used to be a lot of mining in the area where I live and the tunnels have not been filled up properly when the coal was low and the company moved on, resulting in the ground sinking in and gathering water which steadily grew to this lake.
When time permits I check this area out since it is basically around the corner from where I live which means that I can quickly react to any change in weather.
One early morning I noticed a really dense fog and got myself a few shots of the sunrise.
Here it is in all its glory, straight from the scan with no Photoshop manipulation whatsoever apart from a minor color correction to get the file to look like the slide.
In case you are wondering…I didn't even notice the heron flying by until I got my slides back.
I guess I was still a little sleepy since the photo was shot at 6:15 a.m.
Thanks for checking it out…
